If you live in Australia – a country known for its harsh sun and extremely high rates of skin cancer, finding a sunscreen you can rely on and use every day is a priority.
At In Awe, we’re proud to locally manufacture our SPF50+ Mineral Sunscreen Lotion and SPF50 Sunscreen Lotion, both of which protect from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
In fact, recent independent testing has again confirmed In Awe sunscreens are compliant with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) product label claim guidelines, so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing they’re offering excellent sun protection.
In Awe Sunscreens: Formulation Highlights
What’s in them:
- Our vegan and gluten free SPF50+ Mineral Sunscreen Lotion uses zinc oxide to protect users from UV rays. Naturally derived, zinc oxide creates a physical barrier on the skin that blocks UV radiation. It also features skin-moisturising castor and coconut oils.
- The sun protection ingredients in In Awe’s ‘everyday’ SPF50 Sunscreen Lotion are: Homosalate 100mg/g, Octocrylene 100mg/g, Octyl salicylate 50mg/g, and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane 30mg/g.
- Both our sunscreens feature Australian kakadu plum extract. Kakadu plums contain vitamin C levels up to 100 times higher than oranges. Vitamin C supports skin growth and repair.
- The Kakadu plum also boasts antioxidant properties 5x stronger than blueberries, and potent anti-inflammatory phytonutrients.
What’s NOT in them:
- Both our ‘Reef Friendly’ sunscreens are free from Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, chemicals shown to be detrimental to coral health. Oxybenzone has also been known to cause allergic reactions in some people. The science on whether oxybenzone is safe for skin isn’t yet settled.
- Parabens (preservatives that may impact human health in the long-term).
- PABAs (compounds that can cause skin issues and possibly other health issues).
4 Other things to love
- Both our sunscreens are specially crafted for use by those with sensitive skin.
- They’re non-greasy.
- Our lotions are water resistant (yes, that includes sweat) for 2 hours.
- They’re deeply hydrating to the skin.
4 vital sunscreen tips
- Remember to apply sunscreen on those easy-to-forget places: the ears, hands, feet, and scalp/hairline.
- Reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours as using a towel, wearing clothes, swimming and sweating can impact sun protection ability.
- Teach your children that sunscreen may need time to work, so it’s best to apply it 20 minutes before heading into the sun, including to exercise.
- About 1 generous teaspoon of sunscreen is needed just to protect your face and neck.
