Research suggests 16% of Australians will suffer with eczema at some point in their lives and that more than 30 million Americans have some form of eczema.

Also known as atopic dermatitis, it’s a chronic inflammatory skin condition that sparks symptoms including dry, itchy (especially at night), red and scaly skin, thanks to a weak skin barrier function.

Eczema often appears on hands, knees, legs, the face and arms and, at its worst, can cause skin sores and infections.

More common in children than adults, eczema is also known to disturb the sleep of sufferers, increasing the risk of insomnia, anxiety and depression. Kids who have it are also thought to be at a greater risk of ADHD.

While its prevalence is believed to have doubled or tripled in industrialised countries in recent decades, there’s still no cure – meaning those with it are left with the challenging task of finding a treatment to relieve or get rid of their eczema, without causing them more issues.

Moisturising the skin regularly can help relieve itching and prevent outbreaks or flare ups, according to the world renowned Mayo Clinic.

It was while struggling to tackle their own child’s inflamed and irritated skin that West Australian parents Andrew and Jenny created In Awe’s superior range of natural products.

After reaching for a range of major brand creams and lotions, all of which caused a tear-inducing burning sensation for their son, the couple hired an Australian-based cosmeceutical company to help them look for an effective, natural topical treatment that soothes and calms inflamed / irritated skin.

They found a solution for their family – and now many others – in the natural healing properties of the Kakadu Plum, a traditional bushfood only found in Northern Australia.

Being the world’s richest source of natural vitamin C (packing 100 times more vitamin C than an orange!), this superfruit is an active antioxidant, boasting anti-inflammatory properties, and containing essential nutrients like folate, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and vitamin E.

Kakadu Plums are also rich in ellagic acid, an acid shown to have anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and prebiotic effects.

Embracing the power of ethically-sourced and harvested Kakadu Plum and beeswax (which has antibacterial properties and is a source of vitamin A), In Awe’s natural new ointments help nourish the skin and form a protective barrier that keeps the skin hydrated while aiding the body’s own healing processes and soothing irritation. Made in Australia, the ointments not only soothe and calm inflamed / irritated skin but are helping people deal with with dry skin, nappy rash, chaffing, skin texture issues, insect bites, and minor burns.
